Katayama Laboratory is engaged in research and development of next-generation energy systems from the perspective of chemical engineering.

Currently, we are focusing on system development of fusion reactors, which are expected as future energy sources, and research on hydrogen energy systems. This is an important research that we should work on now for the bright future of humankind. Would you like to study with us?

2022/3/23 The Kyushu University Degree Conferral Ceremony was held. Mr. Oyama, Mr. Kubo, Mr. Hara, Mr. Matano, and Mr. Yamazaki of M2 have obtained a master's degree. B4 Mr. Ichikawa, Mr. Nakamura, Mr. Masuta, and Mr. Yamada have also obtained a bachelor's degree.
2022/3/16-18 D1 Mr.Ipponsugi and Associate Professor Katayama made presentations at the 2022 Spring Annual Meeting of the Atomic Energy Society of Japan held online. B4 Mr. Masuta of and M1 Mr. Isogawa made presentations in the poster session.

won the Best Award, following the Encouragement Award at the 2022 Autum Annual Meeting!
2022/3/8  At the 14th Plenary Meeting of the Fusion Energy Forum, Assistant Professor Oya gave a lecture entitled "The Future Opened by Research in Fusion Reactor Engineering". 
2022/2/17 The graduation thesis presentation of the Department of Energy Science was held. Four B4 students presented their research chievments. 
2022/2/14-16 The master's thesis presentation of the Department of Advanced Energy Science and Engineering was held. Five M2 students presented their research achievments.
2022/1/24-28  Kyushu University Energy Week 2022 was held, and D1 Mr.Ipposugi presented his research achievements.
2022/1/23  M1 Mr.Takahashi and Mr. Matsumoto have returned from National  Taiwan University of Science and Technology.
2022/1/11  Webinar “Towards Energy Storage and Smart Green Vehicle Development” was held at Jakarta State Institute of Technology, Indonesia, and Post Dr.Aji made presentation about hydrogen energy sociaty as an invited speaker and Associate Professor Katayama made presentation about hdrogen production reseraches in Lab as a keynote speaker. 
2021/12/11  At the 40th Research Presentation Lecture of the Atomic Energy Society of Japan, Kyushu Branch, M1 Mr.Isogawa, B4 Mr.Ichikawa, Mr.Masuta, Mr.Nakamura, and Mr.Yamada presented their research achievemts. 
2021/12/2-3  At the 23rd CSS-EEST held online, M1 Itokawa have a research presentation.  
2021/11/29 Assistant Professor Oya, Dr. Takeishi, and D1 Mr. Ipponsugi conducted an "isotope separation experiment" for graduate students of the Department of Energy and Quantum Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, in the Nuclear Regulatory Human Resources Development Project.
2021/11/22-25 D1 Mr.Ipponsugi, M2 Mr.Oyama, Mr.Hara, Mr.Matano, and Associate Professor Katayama presented their research results at the 38th Annual Meeting of the Japan Society of Plasma Science and Fusion. Mr. Ipponsugi received the Young Society Presentation Award.
2021/11/19 Mr. Igokawa in M1 and Assistant Professor Oya participated in the "Visit to Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Nagasaki Shipyard & Machinery Works" in the 3rd year training of the Department of Energy, Faculty of Engineering, and visited the turbine factory and the parts manufacturing factory for aircraft engines.
2021/11/16-19 Assistant Professor Oya presented his research results at 30th International Toki Conference on Plasma and Fusion Research held online (ITC30).
2021/11/16-19 Iwai-sensei in QST gave an intensive lecture entitled "Fusion Reactor System Engineering Design" to students of the Faculty of Energy Science. This time, the number of participants was more than double that of the usual year.
2021/10/25 Mr. Ipponsugi in D1 passed the examination related to the first class radiation protection supervisor.
2021/10/24-29 D1 Mr.Ipponsugi, M1 Mr.Isogawa, Mr.Haruta, and Associate Professor Katayama presented their research results, at the 20th International Conference on Fusion Reactor Material (ICFRM-20) held online.
2021/10/17 Mr. Takahashi and Mr. Matsumoto in M1 went to study abroad at Taiwan University of Science and Technology. Please do your best to have a fruitful experience.
2021/10/10-12 Mr. Isogawa in M1 participated in the JAEA Horonobe Underground Research Center tour by the Atomic Energy Society of Japan Student Liaison Committee.
2021/10/9 Mr. Ipponsugi in D1 received the Doctoral Student Encouragement Award from the Kyushu University Reiwa 3rd Year Energy Research and Education Organization Young Researcher / Doctoral Student Support Program.
2021/10/1 Mr.Portuphy in D1, Mr.Yang, Mr. Masuta and Mr.Sun in M1, and Mr.Hu as a research student have joined the laboratory members.
 2021/9/8-10 Mr. Ipponsugi in D1, and Mr. Isogawa, Mr. Takahashi, Mr. Matsumoto, Mr. Wada gave oral presentations at the Atomic Energy Society of Japan held online. Mr. Itokawa also gave a poster presentation and received the Encouragement Award !

2021/3/17 Associate Professor Katayama made a presentation on the release behavior of tritium from neutron-irradiated molten salt at TMS2021 held online. 
2021/2/1  Dr. Aji from Indonesia has joined our laboratory as a postdoc.
2020/11/16-19 Mr. Matano and Associate Professor Katayama gave presentations at TOFE 2020 held online.
2020/11/3-6  Mr. Hara, Mr. Oyama, and Associate Professor Katayama participated online at APSOT-3 held at the University of Toyama and presented their research. Mr. Oyama won the award!
